Violet Evergarden is a fantasy-drama collection of short stories. Written by Kana Akatsuki, Violet Evergarden was submitted into 2013's Kyoto Animation Awards. It is the first and only Grand Prize winner.

Kyoto Animation would later publish Violet Evergarden for fans in 2015, and would enlist Akiko Takase (Free! key animator) to provide illustrations. The series is regarded as one of the best light novels that Kyoto Animation has published.

 

Here is Kyoto Animation's official series synopsis, which has been translated into English by Ultimatemegax.

"Auto Memories Doll.

It's already been a long time since that name was first popularized. It's a machine that Dr. Orlando created that talks in a natural voice. At first, he only made it to help out his loving wife, but before long, they spread out into the world and companies were made to lend them out.

'I'm Violet Evergreen, the Auto Memories Doll who will rush to provide service anywhere you wish.'

That translucent voice comes from a robotic beautiful girl with blonde hair and blue eyes, like she came out of a storybook."

 

An Auto Memories Doll that works at CH Mail Services. A soldier named Gilbert found Violet when he was a child.

 

The president of CH Mail Services and Violet's guardian. Hodgins is a former soldier of Leidenschaftlitch and is a friend of Gilbert.

 

A soldier of Leidenschaftlich who plays a parent role for Violet. He is friends with Hodgins.

The trailer did not reveal who the staff will be for the upcoming series, but here is the staff who worked on the PV. They could potentially hold the same roles for KyoAni's project.
